Report on World Cancer Day Awareness Programme – 2026

World Cancer Day 2026 was observed with a meaningful awareness programme at RVS Siddha Medical College & Hospital (RVS SMCH) on04 February 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM with the aim of spreading awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and people-centred cancer care.

The theme for World Cancer Day 2026, “United by Unique”, emphasizes the importance of **people-centred cancer care**, highlighting compassion, equity, and patient empowerment. In line with this theme, the programme focused on educating participants about how every individual’s cancer journey is unique and how healthcare systems must respond with personalized care, understanding, and support.

The event began with an **awareness speech** delivered by faculty members and students, emphasizing the growing global burden of cancer and the importance of community awareness. The speakers highlighted common risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption, and environmental exposure. They stressed that many cancers can be prevented through healthy lifestyle practices and regular health screening.

Following the speech, a **cancer prevention presentation** was conducted to provide detailed information about the warning signs of cancer, the importance of early diagnosis, and preventive measures. The presentation explained the significance of regular screenings for cancers such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and oral cancer. Participants were also educated about maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and avoiding tobacco and harmful substances.

An impactful awareness skit was performed by the students to creatively convey the message of cancer prevention and patient support. The skit illustrated the emotional, social, and physical challenges faced by cancer patients and highlighted the importance of family support, early detection, and timely medical intervention. The performance effectively engaged the audience and reinforced the importance of empathy and community support in cancer care.Throughout the programme, the focus remained on people-centred cancer care, encouraging participants to recognize the importance of compassion, equality in healthcare access, and empowering patients with knowledge about their health. The sessions also emphasized that awareness, prevention, and early diagnosis can significantly reduce cancer-related mortality.

Overall, the awareness programme was informative, engaging, and impactful, successfully promoting the message of **“United by Unique” ** and reinforcing the commitment to building a healthier, cancer-aware society.
