WORLD ANEMIA AWARENESS DAY SCREENING AND AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Report on World Anemia Awareness Day Screening and Awareness Programme
A World Anemia Awareness Day programme was organized by RVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital, Department of Maruthuvam, at Kadampadi, Tamil Nadu on 13 February 2026 at 10:49 AM. The programme was conducted as part of a community outreach initiative to create awareness about anemia and to promote early detection and preventive healthcare among the rural population.
During the programme, the medical team and students actively interacted with the local community members and conducted a basic health screening session. Participants were examined and assessed for symptoms related to anemia, such as fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and pale skin. Basic clinical examinations, including pulse and general health assessment, were carried out to identify individuals who may be at risk.
As part of the awareness activity, the team displayed educational posters highlighting the theme “Drop the Anemia, Boost the Hemoglobin.” The posters explained the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures for anemia in a simple and understandable manner. Special emphasis was given to the importance of maintaining adequate hemoglobin levels through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.
The healthcare team educated the participants about iron-rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, dates, jaggery, millets, legumes, and fruits that help improve hemoglobin levels. They also stressed the importance of balanced nutrition, regular health check-ups, and timely treatment to prevent complications associated with anemia. Women, children, and elderly individuals were particularly encouraged to monitor their health and follow appropriate dietary practices.
The programme also highlighted the role of Siddha medicine in strengthening overall health and improving blood quality through natural and herbal approaches. Participants were advised on simple dietary modifications and traditional health practices that could help prevent anemia and maintain overall well-being.
Local residents actively participated in the programme and benefited from the screening and awareness session. The interactive nature of the programme helped participants gain a better understanding of anemia and its prevention.
Overall, the World Anemia Awareness Day programme was successfully conducted, benefiting the local community by promoting health education, early screening, and preventive care. The initiative reflected the continued commitment of RVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital toward community health development and spreading awareness about common health conditions.
