Event Overview:
A combined lecture and practical demonstration session was conducted for the students. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Siddha therapeutic procedures of Thokkanam and Vedhu therapy through theoretical explanation and hands-on observation.
Session Details:
The morning session (10:00 AM) began with an interactive lecture held in the classroom, where the resource person elaborated on the principles and techniques of traditional therapies. Students attentively participated, taking notes and engaging in discussion.
The afternoon session (11.30- AM-1:30 PM) was conducted in the therapy unit, where a live demonstration of (Thokkanam therapy and other external therapies ) was performed by an experienced practitioner. Students observed the procedure closely and learned about its therapeutic benefits, preparation, and application techniques.
Learning Outcomes:
Students gained practical exposure to Siddha external therapies .
Understood the clinical relevance and indications of therapeutic massage (Thokkanam).
Conclusion:
The session was highly informative and well-received by the students. It successfully bridged the gap between theoretical learning and clinical practice, strengthening the students’ practical knowledge in Siddha medicine. The department expressed gratitude to the faculty members and practitioners who facilitated the session.
